Price Benchmarking

Parts, labour and shelf pricing collected in the field to one specification, so the comparison actually holds.

In short

What is price benchmarking, and does QGM provide it in Oman?

Price benchmarking is the repeated collection of competitor and market pricing to a single, fixed specification so that prices can be compared with confidence. It covers retail shelf pricing, automotive parts and labour rates, and service pricing. Quantum Gulf Marketing runs price benchmarking across Oman and, with our Dubai partner agencies, across the wider GCC as one programme rather than several. The specification is the whole job: an identical part number, an identical service operation and an identical pack size, or the comparison quietly measures something else.

Questions

Common questions

Why do most price comparisons fail?
Because the items were not truly identical. A slightly different pack size or a labour operation with different inclusions produces a difference that looks like pricing and is not.
Can you benchmark across Oman and the UAE together?
Yes. Through our Dubai partners, a multi-market brief runs to one specification as a single programme, which is what makes the markets comparable.
How often should pricing be collected?
As often as it moves. Fast-moving retail categories justify monthly collection, automotive labour rates usually do not.
Is quoted pricing included, or only displayed?
Both, labelled separately. A quoted price obtained as a customer and a displayed shelf price are different things and should never be pooled.
How do you handle promotions?
The promotional price and the mechanic behind it are recorded together, because a price without its mechanic misleads.
Can we get the raw records?
Yes. Every figure carries its outlet, date and collector so your team can audit any number in the report.
