Brand Research

Brand image, customer perception and the barriers keeping non-users from ever considering you.

In short

What is brand research, and does QGM run it in Oman?

Brand research measures what people think and feel about a brand, and why that translates into buying it or ignoring it. Quantum Gulf Marketing runs brand research across Oman covering three questions in particular: how your brand image is actually understood, how customers perceive you against the alternatives, and what stops non-users from ever entering the market for you. That third question is the one most often skipped and usually the most valuable, because growth in most Omani categories comes from people who are not buying you today rather than from heavier use by people who already are.

What we establish

Four questions a brand study answers.

01

How you are actually understood

Not the positioning on your deck, but the words customers use when asked to describe you without prompting.

02

Where you sit against alternatives

Perception relative to the brands you genuinely compete with, which is often not the set your marketing team assumes.

Perception
03

Why non-users stay out

The barrier is rarely price alone. It is usually availability, an assumption about who the brand is for, or a past experience nobody logged.

Barriers
04

Whether anything moved

Tracked on a locked questionnaire so a change between waves means a change in the market rather than a change in the question.

Questions

Common questions

How is brand research different from a satisfaction survey?
Satisfaction asks your customers how you did. Brand research asks the whole market what it thinks of you, including the people who have never bought from you.
Do we need a tracker or a one-off study?
A one-off tells you where you stand. A tracker tells you whether what you are doing is working. If you are about to spend on marketing, the tracker is the one that pays.
Can you research non-users?
Yes, and it is usually the point. Screening for people who have never considered the brand is a specific recruitment task and we design for it.
Can this run in Arabic?
Yes. Brand language matters more than in almost any other study type, so fieldwork and analysis are done in the respondent's own language.
How large a sample do we need?
It depends on how many segments and regions you intend to report. We size the sample from your reporting plan rather than from a rule of thumb.
Can you combine this with retail measurement?
Yes, and the combination is powerful: what people think of the brand, next to whether it was actually on the shelf when they went looking.
