Structured testing with real users in real conditions, from central location tests to in-home placement across the Sultanate.

In short

What is product testing, and does QGM run it in Oman?

Product testing puts a real product in front of real users under controlled conditions and records their response. It covers central location tests, in-home use tests, sensory and taste work, and sample collection. Quantum Gulf Marketing has run product testing in Oman including beverage testing and sample collection programmes. Protocol is what separates useful testing from expensive reassurance: blind presentation, rotated order, controlled serving, and a questionnaire that captures reaction before the respondent has had time to rationalise it.

Formats
Central location test, in-home placement, sequential and paired testing
Controls

Formats

Four ways to test a product.

CLT

Central location test

Respondents come to a controlled venue. The right choice when preparation, serving temperature or timing has to be identical for everyone.

Controlled
IHUT

In-home use test

The product is used at home over days or weeks, which is the only way to see repeat use, boredom and real-life handling.

Realistic
SEQ

Sequential monadic

Each respondent tries several variants in rotated order, giving comparison without the bias of a fixed sequence.

Comparative
PAIR

Paired comparison

Two products, direct choice. Blunt, cheap and effective when the decision is genuinely binary.

Questions

Common questions

Do respondents know the brand?
Not in a blind test, which is the default. Branded tests are run separately when the question is what the brand adds rather than what the product delivers.
Can you test food and beverages?
Yes. Preparation, serving temperature and portion are controlled and documented so the test is repeatable.
How many respondents does a test need?
It depends on how small a difference you need to detect. Detecting a small preference gap needs a substantially larger sample than confirming a large one.
Can you handle sample logistics?
Yes, including collection, storage, distribution and the retrieval of unused product where that is required.
Do you test in home as well as central location?
Yes. In-home placement is the better design whenever repeat use over time is part of what you need to know.
Is sensory profiling available?
Attribute diagnostics with consumers, yes. Trained expert sensory panels are scoped case by case, and we will say so if a study needs one we would have to build.
